To all Clarkston Residents:
In order for our City Government to serve you more efficiently and hopefully to eliminate any confusion, we would like to clarify our City ordinance definition of various waste and explain out delivery schedule


GARBAGE/SOLID WASTE Food waste including waste accumulation of animal or vegetable matter used or intended for use as food, or that attends the preparation, use, cooking, dealing in or storing of meats, fish, fowl, fruit or vegetables including grass clippings.

YARD WASTE – Leaves, brush, shrub and tree prunings, wood, tree limbs (must be 4 feet or less and less than 50 pounds)  Vegetative residuals and vegetative matter resulting from landscaping but No Grass Clippings.

We are constantly striving to improve our services for our citizens while meeting newer and more costly State and Federal Regulations.  I personally want to thank each and every one of you for your cooperation with this schedule.

Summary of Rules for Curbside Collection

1. Household Refuse must be drained, free of liquids, and placed in Waste management provided containers, placed at curbside before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled date of collection

 2. Household refuse Containers must be removed from curbside to a location closer to the residential unit than the street. This removal should be accomplished no later than 7:00p.m., or as soon as possible after your containers have been emptied.

3. Yard Debris, such as yard trimmings, leaves, pine straw, etc., must be placed in approved receptacles between 20 and 40 gallons in size, biodegradable paper bags or non-plastic coated cardboard boxes easily handled by one collector. Each container must not exceed 50 pounds in weight. Plastic bags containing yard debris WILL NOT be collected.

4. Limbs and Brush must be cut 4 feet or less in length and be no more than 4 inches in diameter, stacked neatly at the curb so as not to block vision of or to interfere with the flow of vehicles or pedestrian traffic. Large volumes of limbs and brush will require an additional fee and will be collected as rapidly as possible by special collection vehicles not extended into street.

5. Logs must be cut as small as necessary to ensure that one collector can handle them and each not exceed 50 pounds in weight. A Special fee will be charged for yard debris when professional tree cutters, landscapers, or those hired or used to assist homeowners. Also an additional fee will be charged for the removal of volumes in excess of one collection vehicle load from each residence. Always separate household refuse from yard debris materials.

6. Prohibited Materials include such items as the following: building materials, stumps, dirt, rock concrete product, automobile bodies, and parts, tires, paint, oil, other liquids, and feces. These items will not be collected. Do not mix these items with your household refuse. It is your responsibility to properly dispose of these items. Special Trash Pick- up Service
Normal household appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washers, etc.) will be collected for a charge at the curb of a Resident on an on call basis. Remember to always secure these items, or remove doors, in a manner so children do not get trapped inside while playing near them or will turn over and hurt someone. Refrigerant must be removed and certified by a licensed HVAC technician.

Small dead animals will be collected on a fee basis if placed in double plastic bags, securely tied and placed at curbside. To use Special Pick-up Services, call 404-296-6489 to arrange service.

Rules and Regulations Governing the use of Milam Park

The following are the rules and regulations governing the use of all public park facilities within the city limits of Clarkston.

I. Rules governing the use of pavilions at Milam Park:

a. Citizens of the City of Clarkston and organizations which are located within the city limits may reserve and use the pavilions by paying Resident Fee rate (by pavillion) and a $50.00 clean-up and utility fee.  The fee is required and said reservation(s) by a citizen or city organization is limited to three (3) occasions per calendar year.  These reservations cannot be made for a third party.  The person making the reservation must be in attendance for the duration of the function.

b. Non-residents of the City of Clarkston and residents subject to rules outlined in paragraph (a) shall pay Non-Resident Fee and a $50.00 clean-up and utility fee to reserve the use of the pavilions in Milam Park. c. Reservations are to be made through the City Hall reception desk, where a reservation application and a copy of the rules will be provided.  Please be advised that current, valid photo Identification must be provided at the time of the reservation.  All reservation fees are to be paid at the time of the reservation.  Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.

In addition to the above fees, a $50.00 clean up fee and utlilites charge will be added.

 d. The person making the reservation shall be responsible for the conduct of the persons using the pavilion and for all damages thereto.  Said person shall be present for the entire event.

e. Groups of fifty (50) but less than one hundred (100) shall employ one off duty City of Clarkston police officer to provide uniformed security at a rate of $25.00/hour.  Groups of one hundred or more shall employ two off duty City of Clarkston police officers at a rate of $25.00/hour per officer. The officer(s) will be present from the beginning of the event until the end.  The officer(s) is to be paid at the time of the event upon arrival.

II. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited within any City of Clarkston public park.

III. All playing fields are leased to an athletic association.  Therefore, permission for the use of any playing field must be in writing from the City of Clarkston.

IV. Milam Park Pool Rules: Clarkston Pool closed for renovations


V. Tennis Court Rules:

a. The Tennis Court operating hours are 8:00am until 10:00pm

b. RULES ARE POSTED AT THE TENNIS COURT AND MUST BE FOLLOWED.

c. Tennis Court fees are as follows:
 City of Clarkston resident with photo Identification-No charge for court
 use, however, if the court lights are used, there is a $1.00/hr charge.
 Non-resident with photo Identification-$9.00/hr with an additional  $9.00/hr if the court lights are used.

d. All team/league play must be scheduled through City Hall.

e. The tennis courts are secured until actual use.  Anyone wishing to use them must first obtain a court key ($10.00 deposit with photo ID).  Key must be returned before 9:00am the following day. (The rental/use of the pavilions does not include the use of the tennis courts.)

The Park Rules are in place for the safety and enjoyment of our city parks.  These rules are to be followed by everyone.
